On September 2009, the rig drilled the deepest oil well in history at a vertical depth of 35,050 ft, On April 20, 2010, an explosion on the rig killed eleven crewmen. The resulting fire could not be extinguished and, on April 22, 2010, Deepwater Horizon sank, leaving its well gushing and causing the largest offshore oil spill in the world's history.

I agree, I believe it was deliberate, what makes it even more obvious is that their efforts to cap the well have been downright laughable- golf balls, celebrities offering their own resources- I mean, it just seems peculiar that there was no effective plan created in advance, in case a disaster like this happened. Or was there and it just hasn't been executed for a certain reason? Definitely not an accident.
