Hello knitters! This video (which turned out kinda long, sorry 'bout that) shows you how to make increases using the 'knit into front and back of stitch' and 'purl into front and back of stitch' methods, aka 'kfb' and 'pfb'. These increases result in a horizontal 'bar' across the work, and for this reason it is also known as the 'bar increase'.

  • Hi, how long have you been a knitter? How did you learn to knit ? Can you do a video on entrelac knitting? Please respond back when you get a chance, thank you,

  • @busyhappyknitter I learned to knit when I was about five, but I didn't start knitting crazily until about 2006. A family friend taught me the basics, my mum filled in a few gaps, and I learned the rest from books. Since my 2006 'revival' I have found myself seeking knitting tips online.

A video on entrelac knitting...I'm not such a good entrelac knitter, but I've been working on my backwards knitting, so I could incorporate those two techniques into one video. It's on the list of vids to make!

  • Thank you so much for your helpful, clear, thoughtfully made videos! Your kind voice is encouraging as well. :) You must be a very gifted teacher. I hope you are able to use your talents face to face with students as well!

  • @origamisensei Aw, thank you for your sweet comments! I do work full-time as a university teacher, but in a completely different field.

  • what am I doing wrong if I dont get the bar? I am getting a hole instead

  • @gambrell104 It's hard to say without seeing your knitting, but I would guess that you're knitting into the front of the stitch both times, instead of knitting into the front of the stitch the first time and then knitting into the back of the stitch the second time.
