@1Megametal The final outro solo is definitely Jason. Marty was never huge on the whammy bar.

this song is absolutely beautiful. it's one of those things that you can't properly describe with words, you can only experience it.

2:39 this is a classic example of how Jason was so ahead of his time. These sweeps have a very unique psychedelic feel to them, many years later bands like Muse started producing similar sounding synthesized sounds that Jason did on a guitar
Im not saying Muse copied Jason. Im just pointing out... Jason's consciousness was basically at GENIUS level

Oh yeah definitely. Anytime I try to utilize sweeps, they are basic chords swept up, then down. Becker was different. He may have a down stroke be a beautiful suspended chord, with the upstroke a completely different chord. It's like he wrote chord progressions, then spice them up and swept 'em. Amazing

To be honest i think muse copy a lot of bands the nights of cydonia or whatever its called was nicked from soundgarden and theres another song with an exact malmsteen lick played at half speed... great song great tribute

I've tripped on this subject a lot. As a musician myself I sometimes hear things I like, but also would like to add my own "spice" too it. I think covering note for note is boring, and taking more than three notes that are identical and using it in your song (without homage or some slight changes) is ripping it off. But in the same breath it is interesting as a songwriter to make a riff based off a Dire Straits song you like, but spice up the rhythm with some sort of Benny Benassi phrasing.
