In this tutorial I demonstrate how to transfer media using version 2 of the Sony XDCAM EX clip browser software with the Avid Media Composer prior to 3.5.

  • Why are you using the Clip Browser? There is no reason and believe it is causing the issue. Don't use the Clip Browser software.

  • Native Support for XDCAM EX SxS in Avid? Are you referring to AMA? Otherwise don't we still need the Clip browser for AVID to see these files? The manual says that MP4 files are not directly supported? Can you make a video with the procedure you are referring to?

  • @RiggiMediaInt Yes I'm talking about AMA. There's no reason to use the Clip Browser over AMA.

  • Media Composer 3.5 has native support for the XDCAM EX SxS card or folder structure. There's no longer a need to use the Clip Browser to rewrap the MP4 files as MXF.

  • Where are you exporting the media to? It must be in the Avid MediaFiles > MXF > 1 (Numbered Folder).

    Is the database being rebuilt?

  • Heya. I think Clip Browser is shit. But maybe it's partly cause I'm doing something wrong.

Do you know why the clips are jerky for the first 6 seconds in the preview? It's a brand new Dell Latitude laptop (2.2G, 2GB)

  • I can't speak for the Clip Browser software; that is a question for Sony. But it has been working very well for me and I have not seen it drops frames like you're describing.

  • Hey Bob, we are stumped on this AVID forum... Do you know of a solution?

  • Thanks for the response. I was on the phone w/ Avid support for 1.5 hours trying to figure this out, and they finally contacted you. I'm running

v.2.8.3 and learned via your info that I've gonna update to 3.1.2. Ockham's Razor indeed.

    Thanks for the help.
