UPDATE!! Xenoblade has been announced for the US!!

Finally, here it is, Part 2 of my FoxeoGames video review of the game Xenoblade Chronicles, a JRPG by Monolith Soft, released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. This is the final part of my review, but I will upload a video of my final impressions after completing the game.

SPOILER FREE: I only use gameplay footage in part 2 that covers approximately the first 5-10 hours of the game, and I don't reveal any surprises or key plot points. I will reveal one possible spoiler, but I give you a heads up warning and time to mute me. Most big-name critics have already divulged this, and it's common knowledge if you know about the game much at all.

This is the English UK localized version, released in Europe on 8/19/2011. The Japanese version of the game is simply titled, "Xenoblade."

Xenoblade Chronicles is similar to the following modern games: Infinite Undiscovery, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Final Fantasy XIII, Resonance of Fate

It is similar to the following classic games: Xenosaga (series), Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore

  • :D

I got to play this at Nintendo connection today (a small Nintendo tour in Australia) I didn't know what it was but when i got into it it was great! Can't wait to get it!

The guy telling me about it said it took him 60 hours to complete, how long has it taken you?

  • @dude1996skatenbike I'm over 45 hours in and still rolling. My work schedule rotates and I end up having less time to do things like play games. It's life I guess. I'm sure I'll finish the game before the end of October.

  • You covered everything but the story, which is what made Chrono Trigger and FF3 so great. How's the story for this game, besides the fact that it's about a single person with a magic sword that saves the world?

  • @morbozim I talked a little about the story and that I thought it was really good, but other than that, it's hard for me to say anything more than the initial setting and beginning of the game. I mean, the truth is, how do you explain what is so great about a story without giving part of it away? I can talk about what makes the graphics good, and give examples of the music, but the story? I'd ruin it to really talk about everything that makes it so good.

    You will NOT be disappointed.

  • This game is impossible to buy in the U.K at the moment, its sold out everywhere. Yes we can buy them from Ebay but they are selling for around £80 - £100 ($127 - $159) because of this, im pretty sure it will get a North American release, they would be stupid not to release it. I only wish I saw your review sooner so I could of got hold of this game. Hopefully stores will stock it again soon, I have pre-ordered it from Amazon as they are expecting more stock soon (I hope).

    Thanks for the review

  • @VideoGamePlayerUK I believe it. I checked to see about ordering it from several stores, who all reported Out of Stock. Luckily for me, I met a LOT of people from all over the world when I was living in Japan, and I was able to arrange to get a copy from the UK that way. Guess you had to get it right away. As more people play this game, they will INSIST that their friends get it and play it. Reviewers are giving it strtng scores, landing it as the sixth highest ranking Wii game on Metacritic

  • @dude1996skatenbike well, im near 80 hours and I haven't finished it yet, I also haven't done all the sidequests. You're looking at well over 100 hours for everything, maybe 150?

  • got this on release in UK, thank fuck. Major shortages. If you're in the US, get this fucking game.

  • Thanks for a good review. =)

  • This games coming for me in a couple of days. Can't wait to be honest

  • @shadowkakashi413 It's just singleplayer, super f*cking awesome singleplayer! -:D

  • so is this game single player or multiplayer?

  • I got this game scince yesterday and played 5 hours scince then. I just had to stop playing because else I still would've been playing this game right now. Its allready my favorite Wii-game and I recommend it to anyone with a Wii-console. And if you don't have a Wii: go buy one 'cause this shit you gotta play!

  • Even though it's been announced for the US, I think the damage is already done in terms of sales, as most of the people who wanted to play probably have already done so by modding the system to play a legal imported copy or illegally downloaded copy. : (

  • Thanks for the great reviews man. Just bought this on Ebay after a long hiatus from any form of gaming. Your review inspired me!

  • In my opinion the two best games this year were Xenoblade Chronicles and Radiant Historia. One didn't come out in NA and the other didn't come out in Europe. Regions are a bitch!
