PLEASE READ!!! Sorry about any volume fluctuations - I tried to balance 'em.

Another one of those 'compare the Phantom actors' videos, this time comparing how each handles the Masquerade Reprise with the music box, and the heart-wrenching line 'Christine, I love you.'
Who do you think did it the best? Try not to play favorites.

Phantoms are (with their Christines):

1. Ramin Karimloo (Gina Beck) - West End
2. John Cudia (Marni Raab) - U.S. National Tour
3. David Shannon (Gina Beck) - West End
4. Gary Mauer (Elizabeth Southard) - U.S. National Tour
5. John Owen-Jones (Gina Beck) - West End
6. Peter Karrie (Elizabeth Grazia) - Toronto
7. Hugh Panaro (Rebecca Pitcher) - Broadway
8. Michael Crawford (Dale Kristien) - Broadway

  • How did you get the font for comparing phantoms

  • @filmkid626 I don't remember the exact website, but if you type in Phantom of the Opera font on Google you should find a few downloads for it. Hope that helps!

  • When I play Christine, I will have the compassion to make amends with him in the end. I dislike the Christine's that run away at the end...like they are still afraid of this poor defenseless man.

  • @irva214 ...well, you won't have a choice - you have to run away from him. It's part of the basic show blocking.

  • I have seen most of these phantoms on stage, with a few exceptions I haven't seen Ramin or JOJ and Ihave seen others that have come on tour to my local city. I judge each phantom on their ability to make me cry (I'm a 41 year old male and have been seeing this show since I saw Michael Crawford in LA in 1989) sometimes there are those that just don't move me. In order of my favorite phantoms, Michael Crawford, Gary Mauer, Brad Little, Colm Wilkinson, Thomas J O'leary, Davis Gaines Thanks!.

  • @egamer25 Oh, what I'd give to have seen Michael, Colm and Davis live! I have my favorites, but in general I also judge a Phantom by their ability to make me cry (Earl Carpenter made me cry in MOTN, for goodness sake!)

Thank you for your comment (I'm glad to see Gary Mauer so high on your list! :D )

  • The ones that affected me the most were the ones in which Christine began to cry as well.

  • music is beautiful, each phantom is a character of the actors own...all of them are great in their own way.

  • nothing to really compare theyre all heart breaking for anyone who loves erik

  • I love the way he catches her hand at 2:15.

  • All of them!!!!!!!!! Trying not to be a Ramin, JOJ or Micheal obsessed :D......They were all brilliant enough to be cast as the Phantom so I can't pick a fav!

  • my favs...Ramin, JOJ, MC, colm wilkinson, hugh panero (the only phantom i saw live), Michael Crawford,

  • I have seen this show over 20 times in the 25 years it has played. As much sadness & empathy as you feel for the Phantom's life & his heart wrenching, "Christine I love you." you have to wonder, even momentarily, if she's going to stay. I respectfully disagree. She doesn't "have to run off." I've seen it too many times where she pauses & for just that instant, you think just maybe, this time she'll stay. In those you cry the most. Those are the best.

  • Definetly Ramin :)

  • I think Gary and Hugh are the best ones!!!
