Demi discusses her problems being bullied, cutting and purging, and being diagnosed bipolar.
Here's what Demi had to share:

On cutting: "It was a way of expressing my own shame, of myself, on my own body. I was matching the inside to the outside. And there were some times where my emotions were just so built up, I didn't know what to do. The only way that I could get instant gratification was through an immediate release on myself."

On developing an eating disorder: "I was compulsively overeating when I was 8 years old ... So, I guess, for the past 10 years I've had a really unhealthy relationship with food."

On her turning point: "I was performing concerts on an empty stomach. I was losing my voice from purging and I literally was so emotionally whacked out that I took it out on someone that meant a lot to me. I take 100 percent full responsibility. The second I kind of came out of my mania and realized what I had done I felt sick. [My family and management team] sat me down and said, 'You can't live like this. You need to get help.' And that's exactly what I did."

  • Before, I thought that Demi Lovato was an amazing singer whose songs detailed every inch and every thought I have ever had. I still think that, because... it's the truth. But now, I realize that she is SO MUCH MORE. Her life is an intricate story that can touch people even more than her songs can. Thumbs up if you're so glad she's healthy again and back, better than ever!

  • Sometimes, I sit down and I ask myself why every good person has to go through so much pain to become strong? Isn't there a better way to be a strong and a positive person? But than I realize that these people are truly blessed, they've survived and became better people! That's why Demi is such an inspiration for me. <3

  • I understand what she was going through I was called fat, ugly, and more as a child.I only forced myself to through up 1 or 2 times.2 years ago my grandmother died and I got really depressed and started cutting myself a lot. I did it before but I do it more now. my friend found out (I told her I stopped)and I still did it after but hid it better, but I told my Best friend that I trust the most, she didn't yell, its been 3 weeks since the last time. I just hope I can stop like her.

  • Kurt Cobain was bipolar! Demi luckily got help! He killed himself....

  • Does anyone know what song it is at 4:18?

  • @sammiidancer222 its when you have really strong emotions, sorta when your happy your really happy and hyper and when your sad you get really depressed and can even be suicidal! :/

  • This might sound really dumb and stupid, but what's bipolar???

  • I LUV DEMI!!!

  • I feel like she did.

  • It gives me chills every time when she says "I knew that if I had gone too far, I wouldn't care".

  • Brave girl

  • I really think she HAD a sad background... But I'm SO proud of Demi for working going into treatment and telling the world she had a problem! Demi has had a new beginning and always has been and ALWAYS WILL BE my favorite celebrity!! I love you so much Demi :) Rock on!
