http://youtube.com/FashionTV MUSCAT - The people of Muscat want to change the world's perception of their region as not being a fashionable place. There are actually quite a bit of emerging local designers from the area that are doing very well in the field. FashionTV's host Maria Ljungstrom takes us to Muscat Fashion Week 2011 where FashionTV gets an exclusive look at all the latest in Middle Eastern fashion. "Muscat Fashion Week will be the venue to showcase fashion of the Middle East and this is part of our effort to showcase Muscat and Oman as well," says His Excellency Sultan Hamdoon Al Harthi. Models get primped in hair and makeup backstage. When they get on the runway, they are wrapped in the most beautiful saris, cloaks, robes, and gowns, all which are crystal-studded and showcase the essence of beautiful Middle East artistry. See beautiful models like the international Bea Franica and designers like Shrekahnth, Dar Dibaj and Khadija Al Lamki. Director of Bait Al Baranda Malik Al Hinai says "This Muscat Fashion Week will put the limelight on our local designers here and literally show their expertise, taking the tradition with a bit of a modern twist. That's really our aim. A Fashion Week on par with Paris, London, and New York.
