The video is great, the music is kinda weird though, don't see the connection to Star Trek.

Well it depends on what you want to use it for. if you want to take photos of landscapes the Canon 10-22mm lens would be good as it is a wide angle lens.
If you are looking to take closeups of animals, insects, and plants then the Canon EF-S 100mm macro lens would be a good choice.
There is no 1 lens fits all solution.

I think that the ef-s 10-22 is the best ultra wide zoom for the aps-c format! Go and buy it!

The best setting for a time lapse during a day is the "P" function on camera: this function allow the camera to chose the best aperture and exposure ;-)
