DVD summary below:
With rumors that UP would be placing their UP 6900 series DD40AX's into storage this trip became a must. Following UP mainline from Archer Hill, East of Cheyenne to Green River, Wyo. Basic goal was to chase and photograph as many "Centennial" lead trains as possible. Loco types seen
include SD40-2's,DD35A+B's,GP-9's,GP-40X, U30C's on coal and ore moves, SD24B and GP30B in consists. SP tunnel motors and WP pool power. Unit PFE reefer trains also captured. Locations include Archer Hill, Cheyenne, Borie, Buford, Hermosa, Laramie, Rawlins , Green River.
It's High Definition in 1978. Just joking. This is an awesome video. I wish DD35's and DD40's were still running freight on a regular bases today. The only DDA40X still running is UP #6936 for excursions only or maybe a freight photo runby maybe. But times change today. SD70ACe's, Dash 9's, ES44's, Etc. Also wish PRR's J1a Texas, M1A, M1B's, J #611, N&W #1218 and other's were still running today. But every once in a while an old Diesel or Freight Car might appear today on certain trains.
