I've always thought the best way to play "Santana" is to think outside the box. Put a latin/jazz/rock backing track and improvise something. Vary on your timing, skip strings, go back on your notes, use slides and quick pull-offs/hammer-ons, explore different variations of scales and play all over the neck. It's extremely fun and very helpful for improving your playing in general. Practice makes perfect.

Guys you have to remember that David is talking about Santana in a blues sense not his typical "Famous" genre. The title is also "Santana Inspired" This isnt supposed to make you sound like Santana its supposed to teach you some of his "Blues" Techniques. Thanks Dave
