@vcsandrew actually you can get Magic Lantern Firmware its really easy to do and then you have manual controls over all your exposure settings in video mode.

thats a really good depth of field there.....i have a standard lens with same camera but i dont get the same DOF..... is it the lens that makes the difference???

Thanks for your comments, it needs a len with wider aperture to get the small DOF, this video taken by the EF 50mm f/1.8. For 500D you can't control aperture manually when video recording. I took the video under a low light indoor environment, the 500D will adjusts the aperture to larger.
