In 2003, Muslim preacher Abdullah al Faisal became the first Sheikh to be sentenced in the UK for inciting racial hatred and soliciting murder. It was a landmark case as nobody in the history of Britain had ever been prosecuted under the Offences against the Persons Act, with the absence of a victim. In May 2007, the Jamaican-born preacher was deported after serving four years of a seven year prison sentence. Nina Arif met him first in Jamaica and then in South Africa, where she worked with the BBC as a producer on this feature for the 10 o clock news.
