Short clip of a typical BalloonSat launch when there is no wind. This particular launch had 25 lbs of payload and eventually reached 100,351 feet.

  • It takes about an hour for it to ascend to the max peak, and about an hour and half for it to land I think most of these payloads are still constructed out of styrofoam, not anything metallic besides some equipment. This is just a precaution in case when a plane hits the payloads, there is no damage to the plane. Also, styrofoam provides good insulation.

  • how long does it take to asend and desend and do you need some regulations to launch one?
