@howdy131 Make sure you prepare everything ahead of time including meals. Do your research! Isle Royale is physically demanding and very isolated; but that is part of what makes it GREAT and a rewarding experience. It isn't like Yellowstone where you can just drive on through. Good luck with your planning, you need to go and experience Isle Royale!
@howdy131 I backpacked the Island last summer. It is definitely a place to go if you have experience, proper equipment, and the physical ability to hike 7+ miles per day. It is an amazing place, one of the best trips I've ever done. You would be extremely lucky to see a wolf. I didnt see wolves or moose, but you should always be prepared for them. Weather was warm during day, cooler at night. Weather can be unpredictable, so prepare for rain and cool nights.
My brother and I were up there for a few days in the end of July and we came upon a wolf just north of Angleworm Lake sleeping in the middle of the trail. By the time I got the camera out it had already taken off down the trail and went north.
Holy chit! When he mentioned he saw two wolves I thought, "oh, right" but then he had video of one. Man, I've hiked that island 3 times and I'm going up next week for my 3rd kayak trip there and I've never seen a trace of a wolf or know anyone who has. The rangers say you'd be extremely lucky just to see one from a distance. That was amazing.
