I tried my best to capture the game engine at 60fps, but I suppose the final file export just wouldn't have it. Ah well; I think it's a pretty good representation of the engine thus far, regardless. As a bit of a bonus, in the last screen you can see the heat haze weather effect in action.
Several other weather effects have been planned, but at least one (the truchet tiles water) had to be scrapped pending the Clickteam guys getting back to me over what the deal is with extension-created backdrop surfaces and huge memory leaks.
Some other details:
• Right now the hitbox for the sword is about 96px in diameter all the way around. Someone's mentioned that this was maybe too small. I've got a lot of gameplay testing to do before I can decide on how I want all of the behaviors of weapons and enemies to be.
• A few people mentioned that the enemies should have some recoil in them, or that they expected enemies to have some recoil. It's hard to see in the video, but while enemies don't recoil right now, they do blink and an impact sound is heard to indicate you hit them. Recoil would effect how the player approaches enemies, so this (and also the rate at which the player can get hurt) will dramatically effect the balance of HP in the game. To that effect, this game is balanced closer to the side of Falcom/Quintet style top-downs than say a Zelda game. With that being said, I don't think anything should preclude implementing recoil in some monsters, especially earlier ones, to make the player's attack strategy for them a little bit easier. That's gonna be highly contingent on how difficult recoil will be to implement seamlessly into the various enemy movement AI's.

@nobuyukinyuu
Don't worry, I was just trolling. You made this? o.0

@CounterNerd yep, doing the coding and throwing in some ripped graphics with a few original graphics/sfx here and there. Later on in the devcycle, pretty much everything except the engine will be replaced with shiny new original content :)
