Last year a friend and I hopped on steam engine SP4999 for a short excursion along the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. "The Daylight" was decked out in Christmas lights, and was quite a sight as it pulled into the "Sams Track" station at Oaks Park. The funny thing is that the train ran backwards - there's no Round House at the end of the track, so the engine simply pushes the cars back about 5 miles- then pulls them forward to finish the trip! I enjoyed hanging out the window and shooting the front of the train in total darkness! A little bumpy, but fun! Especially when the steam whistle let go!
