Abdul Kader Siddique, Bir Uttom, spoke against the propaganda that hails Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the nation's declarer of independence. He clarified that the then Maj. Ziaur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh on behalf Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He clarifies that it was Zia's declaration that began the war under the spiritual leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Kader Siddique clarified, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the father of the nation and Ziaur Rahman declared its independence. He said that hailing Mujib as the declarer dishonors his role and position. He added, Ziaur Rahman deserves the honor for declaring independence.

Kader Siddique, honored with the highest gallantry award a living Bangladeshi could get, the Bir Uttom, was speaking at a meeting of his party Krishak Sramik Janata League (Peasants, Workers and People's League) in late April 2011.

Kader Siddique is the only freedom fighter without a military background to be awared Bir Uttom in 1971.
