Greatest catch ever!

@Conrail2576 I work for CSX and I don't think we scrapped the 80s. They should all be in dark future with red marker lights. I was a conductor for NS and left because CSX treat their people a little better. I also got tired of running Catfish and wanted variety. NS totally destroyed ex-Conrail power by removing the classic marker lights and other Conrail features. Last I checked, we use the 80s system wide. We have no reason to scrap'em.

We saw 2 80MAC's this past Saturday night at Perryville, MD on their way to Baltimore with a big ol' coal drag behind them. They are definitely a sight to behold, visually and audibly!

@Conrail2576 CSX didnt scrap them btw and thats exactly why they are in the coalfields good on steep grades and can pull one helluva payload even though CSX recently released theirs from the coal fields NS doesn't you got lucky. But making them pull a traiin on flat terrain wouldn't make much sense when you have 5000HP

Are you fricking serious? the 80mac's are seriously on fucking lease to NS? Thats bullshit if NS does through with this, they'll for surely be making one BIG ASS mistake, even more if CSX buys them
Awesome! Too bad it wasn't blue :)

Yup, the blue MAC is NO MORE! Still don't understand why they painted them up so fast when they're most likely going to sell em off once their lease is up.

Dude...........awesome catch!!! I just wish NS never would have kept the macs down there just for coal. Should have also been used in freight service too like Conrail always did!! And what a shame CSX did by scrapping them!! SD80MACS rule!!!

Yea dude I agree. I mean I cans see why they're DOING it because of their proximity to Juniata, but ahhhhhh they could be used ALL OVER!!! I mean give me a BREAK! 5,000 HP...EACH?!??!!

Awesome catch. I agree, would be sweet to see the MAC's on regular freights. But with their A/C traction, pulling heavy trains over the slopes west of Toon Town is what they do best, and what they were made for. But I agree, they looked best in CR blue! But then again, any locomotive looks better in CR blue! LOL

Oh yea I know. I mean, I'm pretty sure the main reason they keep them there is because Juniata is LITERALLY right up the road and is the only place that's stocked with...big mac sauce!!!
