Guy Gordon and Katherine Lehan anchor Channel 7 Action News in Detroit. I believe this is a weekend newscast.

  • Good Lord, how many Channel 7s does ABC have? and with Cool hand Luke?

  • The circle 7 logo was created for all of the ABC owned affiliates WABC, KABC, WLS (Chicago), KGO (San Fran) and of course WXYZ in Detroit (no longer an o&o). Other ABC affiliates followed suit with the same branding.

  • 1970's quality CGI...

  • too bad we didn't get to see Katherine on this video[speaking and on close up] she started at channel 2 I believe ....then moved to 7 .... I may be wrong .... I remember her doing a newscast with Bonds on 7 .. Nice to see the old stuff though ... thanks

  • @applesauce2100 This was around 1990... This was probably a weekend 6pm newscast

  • What year was this? After many years I didn't know Catherine Lehan was on Channel 7, but I knew she was on Channel 2. I know when Diana Lewis returned Dayna Eubanks went over to Channel 2 along with Rich Fisher. However at the end of the 5pm news the announcer would say "Action News at 6pm Rich Fisher, Doris Biscoe and Detroit's first newsteam." You would see them walking to set playing Cool Hand Luke and the 6pm news was on for 1 full hour and everybody in Detroit liked the 2-hr news block

  • There were three sets with a common backdrop separated by partitions. This desk was in the center, used for the 6PM with Rich Fischer and Doris Biscoe. To the left was the 5PM desk with Bill Bonds and Robbie Timmons. The red blinds were left open during the 5PM to show skyline. To the right was another desk used for the 11PM with Bill Bonds and Diana Lewis. The blue blinds were opened during the 11PM to show the evening skyline.

  • I think they had two sets at the time

  • We used to call it the "denture" desk

  • Sad that someone at one of the most watched newscast in the country thought that was a good looking anchor desk. That is the ugliest anchor desk I have ever seen, Sorry.

  • alot, and all of them have the exact same logo.

i turn on my tv, flip it to channel 7, and this is what i get. i went to Chicago once, and if i turned on channel 7 over there, i would have got an entirely diffrent station, but with the same logo.

it certainly feels weird seeing the circle 7 logo on other stations, exactly the same logo.
