  • is the prop just spinning so fast it looks like its going the wrong way, or is it messed up?

  • The props spin opposite of each other, the left turns the "wrong way" as opposed to the right side, in other words, "counter-rotating".

Its not messed up just crappy video(shutter speed) on point & shoot camera.

  • What's the history of this Lightning? Isn't a recent restoration in the works?

  • Used to be a Thompson trophy racer, then owned by Lefty Gardner for long time, currently owned by Red Bull and almost ready to fly!

  • If they were real men, they'd stick their head in and out of the prop dodging the blade as it comes. :)

  • bymorningslight: If I remember rightly the P38's engines are both supercharged and turbocharged, i.e. the pipework heading aft to run the big turbo , so any snorting popping and banging as found on most warbirds will have been taken out by the time it exits the turbo at the rear of the nacelle

  • What a smooth running engine! Usually the big V-12s snort and backfire a bunch until they've warmed up. This thing sounds like a high performance race car just waiting for its horses to be put into action. Love that sound.

  • At least it's almost back!!!! Yeeeeeees!!! :-))

  • Thanks, I was wondering if it was Lefty's old white lightning or not.
