Nasca Lines and Ancient Cemetery, Peru 2004

Nasca in Peru is the home of the mysterious Nasca Lines. The lines are large lines and figures drawn in the desert sand by the ancient Nasca people between 900BC and AD600 and can only be seen from the air.

Figures include a 55m long monkey, a Condor with 130m wingspan, a hummingbird (50m), an alcatraz, a human figure on a hill called the astronaut (32m) and many others.

There are various theories on the origin of the lines; tribute to the gods, procession lines, signs for shamans flying high on hallucinogenic and some people even believe that it is a runway for aliens.

The 30 minutes flight over the lines was really amazing. After the flight I went to see the Cemeteria de Chanchilla, an old Nasca cemetery with 12 graves (there was many more, but most of them have been raided by grave robbers) containing skeletons with long hair (the longest was 3m!) in fetal position, wrapped in blankets.

Saw the lines on my birthday and it was really worth it. Lots of great sights 2 see in the area like Nasca Lines, Cusco, Machu Picchu, Cañon del Colca, Arequipa, Lake Titicaca, Salar de Uyuni (Bolivia).

The music is the instrumental 'Access to the Acropolis' from Obliveon's debut album 'From This Day Forward' from 1990. The band plays Technical Thrash Metal and is really worth checking out, especially the mentioned album.

this is a very good vid. thanks for posting. the nazca lines are amazing, what is your theory on these lines? i think its amazing that the maya, aztec, and inca are all people of destiny and its incredible to think what they could have been living through during their age. wow!

As mentioned in the text above (click 'more info') there are various theories on the origin of the lines. I believe the most plausible theory is that the lines are a tribute to the Gods above.

Agree that the old Indian civilizations are very impressive and fascinating.

I think they may have known how to and did perhaps made hang gliiders, A hang glider is not all that difficult to make. Has anyone ever thought about this?
