If you have not noticed yet, I like bright colors! Yeah, it's no secret!.

My 'Chamelon' van is coming together. It took years and much $dollars$ to concockt my wheel and tire combination. If anyone is interested in how wheels like this come out so good I'll give a short ...er ...the run down......

Goes like this. 1st off, find non bent wheels. Use huge breaker bar to free rusted wheel from old tire. You will sweat alot. Inspect wheel for rust perforation. There will be some. Sandblast rim halves. Wire wheel rim halves. Epoxy prime rim halves. Sand with 600. Base coat rim halves. Scuff with pad. Clear coat rim halves. Let cure in sun. Find 5/16" SS carraige head bolts, Buy chrome lug nuts and 10" tuibes from micro image online. Buy obsolete Kumho 756 10" radial tires. Buy 10" porta walls from Lucas tire. Then assemble all.

Also engine #1 in Scorpion sedan with new Wiseco pistons runs. Engine #2 is currently being assembled for another sedan. Progress is slow but good.

  • That's going to be a nice looking van when you get it done. Maybe I'll get to see it driving around Portland this summer.

  • I was wondering when you'd get back on this van. Good to see progress.

  • @2stroketurbo 10-4 thanks I have family in PDX and STL- guess I need to schedule a VW roadtrip out west and look this guy up ;)

  • @GoliathAngelus You always can get new tires, just how much dollars, is the question.

  • @TweedleDee1 You got your wish. Too bad it didn't hang around.

  • @WESTY70 "The Glass Worker" here in PDX has 30 yrs expirience on old odd cars, he says he can seal anything. We spent a couple of hours trying all types of seals, he thought about it for over a week he says. This seal is a universal large "lace" seal where the glass is glued in. Give him a call. He like challenges. He's mobile. Very resonable.

  • ring ding ding

  • hmmm. Where did you source that seal? I have a similar issue with my VW bus - the nose was punched in at some point and redone, and I have perpetual leaky windshield problems, as no installer can seem to get the corners to seat - apparently the opening is not true due to the body work.
