  • I make melt down lead to make fishing sinkers, will this mask provide the correct protection for me? thanks.

  • @Arcz90 This mask assembly includes the 3M 2091 P100 rated filters. These are indeed the correct filters for the application. The lead fumes will be caught and trapped by the filter. However, when heating the lead, you may have other issues crop up. First is carbon monoxide, so be sure you have adequate ventilation. Then there might be some other compounds being heated, depending on where the lead is coming from. Tire weights or used bullets for instance. Just something to be aware of.

  • are 3m fiters color coded ? Is pink for asbestos ?

  • @geminitool The filters are indeed color coded. However, this is a NIOSH thing (think OSHA). The pink or lavender color that is used indicates that this filter is rated P100. This is the current term for what used to be called HEPA. This is the most effective filter available for a half mask respirator. Each brand (including 3M0 has their version of this item. All are equally effective, and are tested to make sure. We recommend this filter for lead dust and asbestos.

  • We don't have a '3M 51' filter. We do mention 2 parts for the mask that contain those or are similar to those numbers. The 3M 5P71 is a pre-filter used primarily for spray painting and pesticide or herbicide spraying. This filter is secured on top of the 3M 6001 organic vapor cartridge by using a 3M 501 retainer. This plastic retainer is a clear plastic cap that holds the pre-filter in place. Hopefully that explains it? Thank you, Rick

  • The asbestos dust is really only harmful to your lungs. Covering your eyes with goggles works fine, but some do prefer to have the full face mask filtering all the air. pksafety(dot)com

  • I dont know what to do with the 3m part no. 51 filter

  • Hi, I make a work of asbestos removal. this mask 3m 6000 is right for the job? or should I buy a larger one is the hat covers the entire face? thanks ...

  • @qwertychal54

For spray painting you can use the same mask, but need to use different cartridge/filter combo. Use a pair of the 3M 6001 organic vapor cartridge in combination with the 3M 5P71 prefilter. These prefilters are held in place by 3M 501 retainers. Please visit our pksafety site to see these.

    Thank you,

    Rick
