Billy Packer's fag out comment

he used fag as a verb, not a noun. fag in that sense means "to tire or weary by labor". it seems likely that fag and fatigue share the same origin.

Words now certainly don't mean the same thing as they did decades ago. In my pathology class we're studying blood cancers and there is something called, "faggot cells" which now has a more common name than that, but still. Now Billy Packer, no one will ever really know what's going on in that clunker of a head.

For the record, the phrase "fag out" implies that a person is backing out of something in the last minute. For the gay people out there that are reading this let me assure you all that although it sounds very offensive this phrase is by no means homophobic.

Actually, and I hate Billy Packer so I am not defending him, but when he was a teenager/young adult "fagging out" had a non-homosexual usage. It's like the word niggardly. Everyone always thinks that niggardly is a racist word when it has nothing to do with the actual N-word at all. Fagging out is the same way. It's a bit un-PC to say it today just because of how it sounds, but Packer wasn't using a gay slur.

No dude. Niggardly is in the dictionary. The term 'fag out' has everything to do with the homosexual slur. Not saying he's evil or anything, or disagreeing that 'fag out' may be part of his usual lexicon, but its still F'ed up.

It was mentioned in the press several times immediately after this incident that the term "fag out" meant something different during Packer's youth. Today it's associated as a gay slur, but in Packer's early adult years it was not at all considered one.

Niggardly is just plain stupid. Well, the word isn't, but whenever people get pissed about it. I saw a teacher get reprimanded for its use in an English class once because a student claimed it incited racial intimidation. What a joke.
