all Bmw's are limited on 250km/h (155mp/h if I remember correctly)...
And 220km/h is about 137mp/h...

@edo888LT Then the gti probably hit its drag limit. The stock 200hp gti ungoverned will go about 140mph, so I'd assume the pirelli edition would hit near 150mph without the roof rack. With it he was probably doing in the mid 130's. Which is where it appears in the video the BMW made significant ground on him. Not sure where BMW limits their cars or if that car had a limiter at all so the video looks legit to me. Do you own the GTI or the BMW? Both are very nice.
BMWs have a better top end. Speed limiters have nothing to o with it. When my 335i was stock and the Pirelli was tuned, I used to lose about 1-2 car lengths, but form ~180 km/h I started catching him up. Now my car is tuned, so no comparison.

@xdragosx It's not my car. And yes, the owner of the car didn't know it had some kind of tuning box installed. So?

Not sure if they still govern the top speed on the euro editions of the golf, but at 220kph that would be about 130mph where the gti is governed here in the states. Certainly puts an end to all the fun.

@hooahayes Well, the GTI was reflashed and the speed limiter was removed if there was one.
