@SakuKoivuRocks Bit of a late reply, but its a Tradition thing. Alot of folks will preach that its for Safety. And it is. But look at some Traditional Russian Bare Knuckle.
Its because theyre not trying to kill each other. Theyre conducting Sparring.

@Parad0XUA If you invest your time into Kyokushin you will notice that they are one of the most respectful karate organisations...i.e Each karate-ka has an un-profound deal of respect for each other ^_^

@555hansy You say it's the most effective karate - then you proceed to say it focuses on the 'one punch'...How is that effective? In pretty much a heated situation there is definitely not going to be room for error, going in and striking and thinkin' you won the fight is ignorance...In Kyokushin you train to kill...

What I like about this style of kumite is that it allows leg kicks. What I don't like is that there is no punching to the head. I mean the kicks are devastating, and I know it's sport rules here, but in a fight, I'm naturally going to both kick to the legs and punch to the head. I train in Shotokan, and, in my dojo, we kick to the legs and punch to the face and head (light contact). In any case, these guys are the real deal. Oh man.. when I saw that extremely skinny/scrawny fighter on the right at the start of this vid I was expecting he'd get his ass kicked.
I was hoping that I was going to be proven wrong and he'd do something spectacular and win despite his size and strength weakness. But nope.
