The Good Doctor shows who is the class of field. Harvey Pack narrates. Watch for Dr. Fager's ear pricking wildly nearing the wire.

Was there ever a more deadly finisher in the home straight?
Kingston Town from from Australia had a sharp turn of speed in the straight, but this Dr. Fager really wipes out all comers in the straight.

I thing that Forego was the most versatile great horse, but that is not saying anything against Dr.Fager. When it comes to rating him Braulio Baeza said "I rated him a few times, but he resented it and he fought me." Most race horses just want to win, even the great ones (Seattle Slew, Buckpasser), so they start pulling themselves up when they get the lead; a very few horses, as you can see here, want to destroy the opposition. The Doctor was a destroyer, so a rabbit was the only option.

Dr. Fager may not be the best horse of all-time but he is probably the most versatile great horse.

Hey did you notice "The Doc" actually rated in that race. Fager haters(usually damascus fans) always claim he wasn't great because he wasn't able to rate. NONSENSE!!!!! "The Doc" was in my mind the best of the best.

The Doc draws away to the wire. What a competitive horse he was!

A real monster, to be sure! He sure was "Rough'N Tumble" like his papa! He and Kelso are flip-flopping between #4 and 5th best of all time on my list as it stands now.
