  • cool car. If someone doesn't recognize what it is, then they are a true ricer. If someone has a turbo 4 banger that happens to be foreign and pays respect to the old GN, then they are not ricers IMO. It's all about tuning something and making it fun and custom without focusing on being a poser. Grand Nationals are sweeeet. I have a turbo 5 (volvo) that is in this same spirit, but I could never keep up with a GN

  • Personally I am not into the rice scene... If you want to spend the many thousands of dollars building a Civic to impress your generation... so be it. (Understand that we laugh at you) You would be way ahead of the game building a turbo 5.0 Mustang that has torque and a V8.

You can pick up a well maintained 5.0 Mustang '87 to '94 now for dirt cheap.

Welding skills, tubing, and a T-44/60-1 Turbo later, and you are in the 11's all day long.

    Again... to each their own

  • i love that sticker haha, great car.

  • Wait till you see the next video... I have started adding Japanese flags to represent the rice kills... WW2 Army Air Corps style. The beauty of having black primer on a car is you can get away anything your mind thinks up. I want one of those new hopped up Hemi cars myself... too bad they don't come with a manual transmission... I hope they remedy that for gear bangers like me.

  • nice car man do i love gn s

  • Most of the operational '84 to '85 cars have been converted to intercooled... trust me on this one. Very few are out there which have not... they are as rare as hen's teeth now.

The brakes are not the same... different brake fluid chambers and operational powermaster systems.

You can convert to vacuum brakes easy enough.

  • just so you know the only differences between the 84/85 and the 86/87's is that the 87's are intercooled, the turbo is moved to the front of the engine and it has a two piece plenum intake manifold. do these little changes and it'll save you a LOT of money. and as far as i know the brakes are the same, but it wouldn't hurt to upgrade them.

  • i have a 84 im putting a 87 motor and transmission do i need to upgrade the brake system with a 87 unit?will the 84 work

  • the challengers got both the 5.7 and 6.1 in manual, i have an srt8 magnum with the autostick and its actually pretty fun, basicly its clutchless shifting, 5 speed and when in autostick mode you can choose to downshift and up shift by just tapping right or left. make a vid of the ricer one id love to see them defend their winged buckets lol

  • I also have a '91 Mustang LX... 432 cubic inch stroked 351W, TKO-600 trans, 3.55 geared 31 spline 8.8 rear end... soon to convert to blow thru carb with a max'd out Novi supercharger. I believe it's street duty days are over... it will become a driveway ornament. :)
