  • I have GOT to see this live version of this old classic. I only hope it has Gamalon Leader Desslok. I am sorry, but Desslok is to Star Blazers as Darth Vader is to Star Wars. After all, that is EXACTLY where Lucas got the idea for Darth Vader. AND YOU CAN'T DENY IT!!

  • @Halpin2006 I heard Desslok was only in it for a brief moment toward the end of the movie. :(

  • I downloaded all of the old episodes and watched them a couple of years ago.. A Huge fan back in the 80's. This show still holds it's salt watching it now as an adult compared to so many of today's cartoons

  • @jjacola Same here, I got the Bolar Wars also that they didn't show here in the US. Have you seen the 2009 animated movie yet? It is awesome! I have some clips of it online (on here).

  • A friend of mine ordered this but it was the one without subtitles. Luckily, we knew enough about the original series to follow what was going on. Despite the language barrier, we loved it. The movie, unlike American upgrades, pays a great deal of homage to the original: uniforms, soundtrack, overall plot. My only criticism, a minor one, is that we don't see much from the Gamilon perspective like we did in the original series. Desslock's appearance also is all too brief.

  • @HerrEllsworth - I want to see it also, I got the soundtrack for it, but (and I know it was a Japanese movie) I wish they had gotten some American actors to play the roles, the animated stuff they don't look Japanese! lol.

  • I hope this is released in North America.

  • I'll see it in its Japanese form without a single translation!

Just seeing the trailer I could see the "Yamato" itself, Captain Avatar/Okita:, and of course our dude Susumu Kodai/Derek Wildstar.

The adherence to the original material appears to be very solid. I. CAN'T. WAIT!!!!!!!

  • The dynamic sea launch, vertical climb through stratosphere, and comic tiger escorts engaging gamilon carrier group were not in the movie. Neither is any version of the original theme, other than incidental background music. The one being sold is not the same movie.

  • @DJGENEX71 yup...and Desslok was an entity, not an individual...weird, but follows the original story quite well for the live action movie...

  • I like it

  • @MWCharke, you are only reading the published WRITTEN history of Vader's creation. I am talking about the UNWRITTEN history, where Lucas got many of his ideas, but keeps quiet about. Truth is not all in just the written word, but also by those who from experience. After all, where do you think Lucas got the idea for the Death Star? From the Comet Empire machine! Just as he got the story idea for Episode IV: A New Hope from Akira Kurosawa"s movie "The Hidden Fortress".

  • @Halpin2006 You don't think the Nazi's had anything at all to do with Vader's creation? Perhaps you should do your homework.

  • "delected by" ????

  • Buemmo - then who else is the king? Hollywood? Don't be obtuse!
