Chinese always tried to make Korea's history as if it was theirs by making Korean government officials to mimic clothing reports and such through ways of force and corruption in the past. Japanese always tried to destroy Korean Culture in the past by burning literature and forced to learn their language. During Japanese occupation of Korea in early 1900's for 30 years of that time, it was illegal for Koreans to practice TY and Hangul(Korean writing system) almost destroyed Korea's culture.
@kero7642 yes. don't disagree with anything, you r right. just referring to the old literature of the Hwarang knights. what their system was is only left to us in the literature, as their traditions were lost to history. later some conmen created "hwarangdo" to try to revive it by mixing modern martial arts and linking it to some of the literary relics.
hwarangdo isn't even 100 years old. it never existed before some multi-martial arts guy tried to make a new style. Goguryeo was defeated only when silla allied with tang. they didn't kill using hand to hand combat, but using weapons. Goguryeo had subdued over silla for centuries, teaching them subak (which the hwarangs learnt. btw hwarangs weren't much of a big deal before they were promoted in the late joseon dynasty). hwarangdo is a new art. traditional arts don't use the word 'do'
I did not say they were instoppable warriors of the world and no one could ever defeat them... So if I use your logic the Japanese also suck because Korea kicked Japan's ass before as well, when Japan attacked Korea and found out that horse back archery is way better than they expected. So obviously Japan is not good at fighting at all. Same with the Roman, European Knights, Polynesian warrior, Aztec warriors ect. They all lost before, so they all are bad warriors...
It's Miracle how much of Korea's culture still survives today.
