Thanks for the nice video! Didn't know if the sound got as far as Melbourne. Now I know it does.
Please be advised that the shuttle does NOT go straight up!!! Like every other rocket going into Earth orbit, it makes a smooth arc (starting only seconds into flight) to achieve a speed over the ground of 17,500 mph. This is required for an object to stay in Earth orbit. In fact the last six minutes of the eight minute powered flight are essentially flown HORIZONTAL.

have u heard any of the sonic booms when it comes back? I heard it last time here in Ca. I was 90 miles away. I used to live in fl so i know how it is. very cool

Yes, I've heard the sonic booms. I live an hour away from the Cape, and it still shakes the whole house. :)
