A version of "Milt's Forward Looking Tradition" by Kevin Norton's COUNTERPOINT (Garrett Brown - drums, Jesse Stern - electric bass, Kevin Norton - vibraphone) that was originally composed for Kevin Norton's "Bauhaus" Quartet. The Counterpoint trio was formed in 2006, based out of William Paterson University.
The composition is dedicated to the great jazz bassist, Milt Hinton (1910-2000) who once stated that his some of his favorite recordings (that he participated on) were the George Russell recordings (i.e. "The Jazz Workshop", "New York, N.Y.")
This performance is from July 29, 2009 at Camp Encore/Coda (Sweden, Maine).

  • GREAT TO HEAR YOU AGAIN JESSE!!!!

  • Brilliant! What a beautiful tribute to Milt Hinton!

Another side of Kevin Norton's stellar and diverse contributions to creative music as a composer/performer of verve and wit.
