On October 4th, Dr. Paul Farmer, renowned physician-anthropologist, addressed the Brown University community in a lecture entitled "Rebuilding Haiti." The event was sponsored by Brown's Lecture Board in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of the College.

Medical anthropologist and physician Paul Farmer is a founding director of Partners In Health (PIH), an international non-profit organization that provides direct health care services and has undertaken research and advocacy activities, on behalf of those who are sick and living in poverty. He is the Presley Professor of Social Medicine and chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School; chief of the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women's Hospital; and the United Nations Deputy Special Envoy for Haiti, under Special Envoy Bill Clinton.

  • Wow. Paul is so angry. So cutting. So dismissive of young students who are not as articulate as he. The young student from the DR deserved more respect, as did the young man (alone among the women who put forth questions). They were both so "dissed" in public, by Paul.
