CRT smashing - the fun way!

The first one is an old TV and the second one is an old PC monitor, both had not been used for years and were destined for scrap. I was just making them "safe" by filling the vacuum.

  • CAN I HAVE THE TV SPEAKER IF U STILL HAVE IT

  • @TheSpeakerseeker Sorry I threw it out.

  • So if im gonna take a tv apart should i do it outside and what if i dont take the gas out when i take th high voltage out will it come out please help

  • @Jhfgsjdcd You can if you want. Just get a hammer and tap the back of the neck with force until it breaks. There is no gas inside of CRT's as they are vacuums (empty space). When the neck is broken air will be sucked in.

  • Dude there is mercury and u just inhaled it

  • @Jhfgsjdcd Actually there is little of no mercury contained with in CRT's. If there were any it would be on the front lens, plus mercury would be too heavy to become airborne from a small hole on the neck of the CRT.

  • Stupid question: Smash TV like in video, fill vacuum. Super-charge flyback transformer for very high voltage to TV. Plug in TV. ????

  • @Jhfgsjdcd there is not gas in the tube. the tube is under vacume so it is air going into the tube

  • @Alex1M6 Dont.

Put a screwdriver on the very end of the tube and whack it,

There is a bead there used for vacuuming the system, whack it and it falls off. Safe discharge without glass shards all over you.

  • @blackmesa25 lol yes I salvaged most parts from the circuit board, its my main source of components for projects.
