Tamiya original Hilux RA1028 Promotional vintage video . Note the AP435FM transmitter. This means this part of the footage was filmed in Japan since they use 35MHz for Surface models in Japan so I believe. In UK and EU this was AP440FM . Would like to know what the USA got. Maybe an AP475FM ? My own Hilux only needs a chassis / front cab / decals until I can start to build and restore it LOL. Hope this video works, it was a nightmare to deal with (in an obscure format). I don't own the VHS original. I got this from a friend as a video file via computer. Robysoldtamiya on tamiyaclub.com has an original commercial VHS I was told. Wish the quality was better!

  • what type motor have the hilux ? 540 of bigger ?

  • Original Hilux RA1028 has either Mabuchi RS-540 (white plastic endbell) or Mabuchi RS-540S (black plastic endbell). The "re-release" Hilux (which IMHO is almost nothing of the kind because of e.g. it's plastic gearbox) has Mabuchi RS-540SH (metal endbell). The Blazing Blazer had same as RA1028. The Bruiser and Mountaineer had Mabuchi RS-750SH. Cheers, Alistair G.

  • Great to see this again. I have most of these original Tamiya promo vids if you want to see more. Don't worry about quality, the original quality was terrible! lol. Funny to hear the announcer stumble on the words in some of these. Thanks for posting, brought back memories.

  • we need to remember where the hobby started to enjoy where it is
