The Hockaday School community welcomed its 11th Head of School and third Eugene McDermott Headmistress Kim Wargo in a beautiful installation ceremony Sunday, September 25, 2011, at 2:30 p.m.
Celebrating this new beginning for The Hockaday School, several honored guests addressed the audience with testament to Ms. Wargo's ability as a leader and educator. The principal speaker for the day was Elizabeth English, Head of School at The Archer School for Girls. Additional remarks were made by Mary Frances Gregorio, a former student at Louise S. McGehee School in New Orleans, and Michael Maher, Head of The John Cooper School and President of the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS). Dr. Matt Kerlin, Assistant Dean of Spiritual Life and University Minister at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, led the invocation.
Hockaday faculty processed in academic regalia and Hockaday's student body attended. Heads of the major independent schools and universities in the Dallas area and beyond attended as honored guests and joined in the procession. Following the installation, there was a reception on Graduation Terrace at the School for all guests.
