@CrackerKen1 Any time Buck and Don played together it was magical. If everyone had only known then that they were watching something the likes of which would not be seen again after 1974 I wonder if they would have appreciated it even more. If I had been able to see Buck, Don and the band play live during ANY period, I wouldn't have been disappointed, no matter WHO was on the stage with them!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Dynmic Duo of Country Music. Buck did indeed use Don's voice as another insturment. As testament as to how pervasive their music was the Beatles requested copies of all of their albums. John Lennon in most particular loved the Bakersfield sound of this amazing pair. I was barely 3 years old when Don Rich died but I remember both of my parents crying when the found out he had died. Buck, I agree with you it is high time Don was in the Country Music hall of Fame!!

Short and to the point, just like country music should be. Todays country tries to be more rock, with solos and heavy drums.

Exactly what I was thinking. I watched this video several times before realizing Don was playing a Gibson. What the hell?

This version is seriously lacking without a pedal steel guitar. Piano is nice, but this song had some serious pedal steel playing by Ralph Mooney in it when it first came out. I think this was in Bucks "American Music" period, after JayDee Maness left him, and before Jerry Brightman started. I saw Buck live during this period, and was very disappointed when i showed up and didn't see a pedal steel guitar on stage.
