Cooling the Roof

On September 24th 2009, the YMCA joined Mayor Bloomberg and Former Vice President Gore to intiate the NYC Cool Roofs intiative at the Long Island City YMCA. The intiative hopes to decrease energy consumption in buildings throughout NYC by decreasing the amount of solar heat absorbtion during the summer via white roofs. The YMCA would like to thank everyone for their involvement with this effort, including NYC Service and Community Environmental Center.
