  • my question is? are you using any sort of backer board to glue the mirror glass onto or are you just gluing your tiles to the mirror glass itself? If you are gluing to the mirror glass itself how do you hang a mirror like that? How thick is the piece? Nice work!

  • @free2danz I use mdf board most of the time, sometimes plywood. I scor the board with an exacto knife so that the glue has good adherence, then glue the tiles. I usually glue the mirror itself using a high strength silicone adhesive.

  • do you glue your tesserae right onto the mirror?

  • @Louellamarierose yes I do, right onto the mirror, the secret is letting it dry well before grouting to make sure the piece stays glued to the mirror. :)

  • It's just amazing..........

    Planning make my first mirror.....

  • @ekocentric lol! There you see, I'm sure you use your intuition when you are creating your work too!! Because, like you said, they don't turn out so bad in the end! I usually create the same way, not laying out my work or thinking about colour..just going with the flow and when I'm finished, I'm always amazed at how it turns out!! Out of Body experience? lol

  • @mozaikadezign Okay...if it's something that you feel, then you have a LOT of wonderful FEELINGS. lol.

Right now, I'm working on a chess board that will become a table and I'm also working on an accoustic guitar mosaic...have had a heck of a time with color. Always do, but they don't turn out too bad in the end.

  • @ekocentric thanx! I don't think it's something you learn, more something you ''feel'' when working with art and colour! ;)

  • where in the world did you learn to use color so well? You dod great work.

  • @Louellamarierose hi! Most of the mirrors are cut to certain size and shape, glued with strong silicone adhesive and the tiles are glued around the mirror glass using Weldbond glue. Sometimes I will glue some tiles directly onto the mirror using Weldbond, but the secret is letting in dry at least 48 hours before cementing in an dry enviroment. Thanx!
