  • yes - By adding a pre-amp, a passive violin is active. It affects many things, but one of the big ones is "impedance." On the NS Instruments, all of the electronics are the same in the passive and active instruments. So, by adding a preamp to the passive instrument, you make it "active."

  • can you modify a passive to become an active?

  • I have a question

If the violin was an active violin would the quality of the violin effect still it's range of frequencies?

I know that you're using an NS design violin but what about the Yamaha silent violins (i assume they're active because they use a battery and you can plug headphones on it) But would it be better to get a silent (active) yamaha or a passive NS design WAV?
