One of the most spectator friendly events in the 2011 season for Science Olympiad is the Sumo Bots competition. Featured here is the final face off between St. Johns High School (lower left corner) and Mason high school (upper right corner) at the 2011 Regionals Competition (Region 11 of Michigan). This was quite the thrilling match, as bots are moving and shaking, parts are flying, and strategic maneuvers abound! St. Johhs High School prevails, taking 1st place in this event, and Mason took 2nd place. Congratulations to Nick Kurncz (featured as the controller in the video) and Theron Richardson, the Bot designers and operators. Overall, St. Johns retained the title of Region 11 Champions, taking 1st place in 10 of the 23 events (with numerous 2nd and 3rd places as well).

Woo! good job St Johns!
I got to run one of the middle school events up here in Marquette recently (region 1), be jealous. (just kidding, you don't have to be... but it sure was fun)
