Al Caiola was a 1960s specialist in the "big guitar" sound like Duane Eddy. He did a lot of TV and movie themes with exciting orchestra. These four selections are almost too much.
1) High Chaparral - This 1968 TV series theme, composed by David Rose, was included on Caiola's LP "It Must Be Him".
2) Autumn In Cheyenne - 1961 single backed with Speak Low
3) The Scalphunters - 1968 movie theme, written by Elmer Bernstein, like The Magnificent Seven
4) Ring Of Fire - The Johnny Cash song. Another exciting arrangement. Duane Eddy had an instrumental around that time with exactly the same title, but it was a completely different song. The labels here make the mistake of crediting this composition to Eddy. This was written by Merle Kilgore, like Wolverton Mountain and He Understands Me.
There is a Caiola import CD collection titled Bonanza available now at Amazon.
He also tinkered with jazz-pop, and did all kinds of international music. He's ethnically Italian, and still around. Don't know if he ever does live performances.
OMG - I love this! I bet they used to play this on my local easy listening radio station, too.

Al Caiola transformed this TV theme into one incredible sonic orgasm that takes you out, away, back to a long ago forgotten time (the Wild West or maybe just the 1960s when they wrote original songs for TV shows) if you sit back with headphones u can go all the way back ... to the "High Chapparel" ... unforgettable twangy masterpiece !
