It really aches to see that so many people don't understand the message of these wonerful lyrics... Beautiful film. Merlin is one of my favourites and so is Meadows of Heaven.

you might be right about that. I only paid attention to the chorus, so that might have misled me. nonetheless, they do say "my day in heaven" in "7 days to the wolves," and I think that really throws off the atmosphere created by the song--b/c up until that point, it seems to be taking place in some prechristian tribe...
i love this video. it gives the entire film a different look and feel.
the editing is superb, thank you for having made this.

i remember watching this made-for-tv movie in school and hating it. I love NW, but I think they should stay away from all things Heaven. Heaven really should not be part of the vocabulary of a metal band, unless maybe as a casual alternative to the sky.

This is an interesting comment...why should metal bands not use "heaven"? In this song specifically I think it's very appropriate.

well you certainly are right about its appropriateness here. "fields of Hell" wouldn't really work out. it isn't badly written, but it's times like these that NW ceases to be a metal band and becomes Christian Rock --which I find to be cheesy. I think that Christianity has had its time in art, but now it's time to move on. Due to my absence of faith, I just can't relate to modern attempts at Christian art.

But in this context, "heaven" isn't referring to the afterlife, it's referring to a time in our life when life is innocent - childhood. I can understand your point because Nightwish isn't a Christian band, but since "heaven" isn't used in a Christian context, I don't see anything wrong with it. :)
