  • I've spent almost sixty years listening and studying piano literature -- and other forms of serious music as well. I can tell an awful lot, even from the scratchy old acoustic recordings and piano roll restorations of pre-World War One players.

This pianist has GREAT technique -- but so does everyone else performing today. I think by turning players primarily into race horses we've lost a great deal. No one plays anything but the "hard" stuff it seems.

Good you are so fair-minded, though.

  • predicktably legendary campy.

  • wow that was very good well done... this is one of favorit pieces and you played it amazing! the end could use some slowing down, but WOW your great thank you!!!

  • @Pischnaholic I agree. Us older guys know now prodigious technique is standard equipment. Seems like everything is playable. Sometimes the soul of music seems to be coated with a veneer of virtuosity. You are not "pompous", just realistic.

  • Maybe another 60 years you'll be less pompous?

  • Non sense- she kicks your ass and takes names-to hear her in a big hall is where its at ....so shut up you jealous knucklehead, you armchair schmuck.

  • Its a tough business, there are so many mysteries that go into making a career. Sofya gulyak, certainly deserves a big career-but the "field of concertizing" has the weirdest variables and karma .....

  • Are you stupid? or just plain dumb?

  • A violinist can play the piece with a bell. The piano either sounds a like bell, or audio enhances it. Maybe this is just the way this particular piano and pianist sounded, and there was no audio enhancement. Very nice either way.
