  • where do you ge the lighting

  • @zannadootothetenth The lighting system is made up of many different components, bought from various suppliers. All found on Google, just type in what your looking for, like "Model Lighting", etc..

The systems used in this model were created here, it's not a "ready to go kit", strictly custom stuff in my client orders. I don't sell lighting, I only build projects as seen on the website.

  • @MartianStories Yeah, you're right. My GF and I still debate on whether something looks better as CGI or better as a real model. I play her a lot of old and "Golden Era Of Sci Fi" (the 8o's) stuff, and she's always like "What a cool model." She does it just to mess with me so that I'll try to make a better ship than the one she points out. It's fun. But yeah, textures are the hard part, although they are coming up with new techniques that will make it easier. Still, real models are impressive.

  • @MartianStories Cool, but it's not that I don't "like" CG, it's an awesome art form and requires effort and talent. I just prefer real 3D objects to convey an effect, like a Starship, on film. It's a question of perception, and personal preference. It's become a type of disagreement between lovers of both genres, it should just be a matter of taste. I've played around with various CG programs, it takes a lot of time to create all the textures and such, very complex. Good comment Dude.

  • @mercs32118 Very cool. Well, you're an extremely talented artist. I use to build models a lot when I was a kid, and although it is a lot of fun, it's very hard work (although model cement can cause a pretty interesting high for a 13-year-old.

Although you still dislike CGI, I do CGI sci-fi, and I spend hours creating and working on my own ship designs for the animated film I'm doing. I actually like it better than making real models because I can do things now that I could never do with plastic.

  • @MartianStories Thanks Dude, I try to have fun with you guys, it's all good!
