From, "What on Earth can architects do?", a pecha kucha with Architecture Sans Frontieres, Article 25 and Architecture for Humanity, chaired by Jeremy Till.

Full discussion at http://vimeo.com/12765291

Architecture for Humanity-UK, Architecture Sans Frontiéres--UK and Article 25 work nationally and internationally to bring built environment skills to international development and disaster relief. For those enduring the aftermath of disaster, trapped in poverty or living in conflict, the agenda of design seems all but irrelevant. At the same time, in a world where 99% of the built environment is produced without help of experts, professional practice can seem remote. From advocacy, training and outreach programmes to building and design workshops; from participatory practice and local collaboration to the design and construction of actual projects, this debate will explore the role of the built-environment professional in conditions of rapid change and scarce resources, and demonstrate the wide range of practices that can be employed in challenging social, economic and environmental contexts.
