A dirty little secret about WW II was the widespread practice of human experimentation - using people as unwilling test subjects for grisly, and often deadly, medical trials. The Nazis did it. The Japanese did it. The US did it. Learn more about this shocking piece of history and its implications for today. Part of "The Broader Implications of War" series, directed and co-produced by Gloria Messer for the Manhattan Neighborhood Network. Host and co-producer: Heather Wokusch.
It's my understanding that only ONE Japanese doctor was ever punished for what went on at the 'logging' camp.

My math teacher in France was a concentration camp victim of such experiments. He was twelve years old. He walked with an extreme limp. Why? Because the 'doctors' broke his legs. When they healed his legs were broken again, and again and again. All to see how well bones would heal after continued breakage...vital info, eh? He had his number tattoo on his forearm.
