  • @rpavich To agree with someone who states historically verifiable facts is not to trust him, but the historically verifiable facts he cites. To agree with someone who happens to believe many of the same things you do based on your own Biblical study is not to trust him as much as the Bible he preaches. He's not saying to trust what he's saying, but merely to take into consideration what he has learned about Calvinism/Augustinianism.

  • Funny... the title is a fallacy and then it goes downhill from there... we are told "How to be Saved from Reformed Theology = Trust NO MAN" Then we are asked to "trust" Dave Hunt and his views... What about the apostle Paul? Didn't he write Romans? Wasn't he a man? I'd rather trust him... thank you =)

Yes, Romans 1:17 says "For in it (the gospel) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "But the righteous man shall live by faith.""

Do the scriptures have anything to say about that faith? Yes. Ephesians 2:8 tells us "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God".

  • I agree that calvinism is no where near perfect but there is alot of God changing hearts and minds of men in the bible so I would say GOD IS SOVEREIGN and I think thats enough.

  • @tgillspy2 Some of it might be, but predestination and election are both talked about in the bible. Romans chapter eight and and Ephesians 1:5 both talk about predestination. So the bible talks about how only some are going to be saved, but our job is to preach the gospel to all. Also there can be assurance of salvation (but it comes from the spirit), and salvation is entirely a work of God (Ephesians 2:8). Please read you bible, study the history, and not jump to conclusions ignorantly.

  • @gvassi17 Calvinism is very wicked.....

  • He needs to retire!.

  • @bobby7771117 that's the problem Mr. Hunt gives with Calvinism... why is it so esoteric, and so hard to reach from a normal reading of the scriptures in their context? One has to read a lot of scriptures in a Calvinist mindset for them to make sense (I refer to all the times common meanings must be twisted out of normal meaning in order to fit the system-- "All" , "the world", etc...)

  • @sketchbook1 Faith is something God gives. The natural man doesn't receive such things because they are spiritually discerned (1Cor2:14).

Romans 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

God does choose; just read Ephesians 1:3-6...

  • @sketchbook1 We're saying the same thing. Thanks for the clarification.

  • @5to22a but the gospel in Romans sets out a gospel that is "by faith, first to last" and Jesus Himself said that all who look to him He will save...

It isn't some sort of decree thing, wherein God chooses for His good pleasure to create as sinners, and then damn for all eternity, the vast majority of human beings. That's what Calvinism preaches.
