This was the first video we shot in our guerilla hooping video shoot at the Arboretum. It is full of crazy mistakes and I was not going to post it. The background is lovely though and I love the song and tonight, in my class, I dropped my hoop and one of my students remarked that she found that reassuring. It reminded me that, to new hoopers, it can often look like more experienced hoopers never make mistakes. That can make people feel frustrated with their own efforts when, in reality, every hooper I know drops a hoop sometimes. In this video, I make at least two colossal drops. More than that, I don't think my dancing is the best. It was the first video of the day and I was self-conscious. So I'll probably shoot it over one day but, for now, I'm going to share it anyway. What the heck? I love some parts of it, especially near the end. Hopefully the next one will be better.

  • I love your reasons for leaving the mistakes in. :) Thanks! By the way, how long have you been hooping?

  • That's a good question. I'm not really sure. I guess I hooped for the first time around 2002 or 2003 though I didn't really get into hooping until about 2004.

  • Love it Caroleeena! The mistakes are nothing to the flow and beautiful movements you put in. There is such a Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers style about you, which came so completely into the open with the fantastic moves around the pillar.

Dance on girl. You do it so well.

  • Thank you Sue! That makes me feel so good. You couldn't have given me a better compliment. I really appreciate that you take time to give such lovely encouragement. I hope I get to give you a big hug of appreciation one day.

  • This is incredibly beautiful - You make it look effortless, graceful, and beautiful. <3

  • Yep, still love this one! You need to make a video dancing to something like Fred Astaire wearing a Ginger Rogers dress. You'd be a sensation.

Fred Astaire is great to hoop to believe it or not ;~)

I LOVE LOVE that you simply dance to a song! you're beautiful.

Though a part of me would like to see you rage sometime. Ha.

  • Beautiful video! I love how you interact with your environment while hooping. It's like you're showing people the magic in things, like a bench for example :)

  • that was one of the cutest hooping videos ever. so creative.

  • Honestly, I think the mistakes made it all the more wonderful! Especially when you started giggling at the second one, it put a massive smile on my face.

You have such a unique and creative hooping style, it's very inspiring! :)

  • Love it! The song and the moves are beautiful, especially your work around the pillar. Mistakes look natural and don't detract
